As travelers arrive at Melbourne Airport, they often face long wait times in the new International Welcome Center while connecting to their next journey. Recognizing this challenge, the Space Coast Office of Tourism and the airport aimed to create a dynamic installation that would transform these hours of waiting into an engaging experience, sparking curiosity and excitement about the Florida Space Coast.

A Journey Begins At The Airport
To achieve this, we developed a captivating interactive experience designed to immerse visitors in the beauty and adventure that awaits them. The centerpiece of the installation is a massive vinyl wall graphic that commands attention upon entry. In the middle of this striking visual are two large touch screens, inviting guests to interact and explore.
These screens serve as gateways to a wealth of information, allowing visitors to discover local attractions, educational content, upcoming rocket launches, and more. The content map, meticulously crafted by &Barr, offers a comprehensive overview of the region’s offerings, ensuring that every visitor leaves with a deeper understanding of what makes Florida’s Space Coast special.

The installation not only informs but also entertains, effectively capturing the attention of travelers. With an intricate information architecture, users can select their preferred mode of travel—be it by kayak, rocket, boat, surfboard, cruise ship, or sports car—and navigate through top destinations across the Space Coast.
As a result, the interactive experience has become a focal point within the Welcome Center, engaging visitors with a captivating adventure that sets the stage for their upcoming Florida experience.
