Space Coast Office of Tourism

3-2-FUN!

A location with many wonders

While countdowns are undeniably emblematic of Florida’s Space Coast, rocket launches are only one of the many things that make this region an iconic must-see destination.

How It Mattered

Storytelling and emotional appeals brought to life the unique and ownable combination of one-of-a-kind vacations and unforgettable space exploration that only happens on Florida’s Space Coast.

More to Explore

After experiencing record-breaking visitation throughout 2022 and 2023, Brevard County Tourism wanted to keep riding the wave of success they had experienced and evolve their creative. Rocket launches and space exploration may be its namesake, but that’s only one of the many adventures to be had while vacationing the region. It was time to expand on their existing messaging to highlight the individuality of each municipality and show more of the breadth and depth of the Space Coast.

The Butterflies Before

It could be an alert on your phone or maybe you prefer to cross out the days on your calendar, one by one. Either way, when PTO is submitted, itineraries planned, and bags packed, there is a delightful anticipation we feel each step of the way for an upcoming vacation.

Sure, the trip itself is amazing, but it’s the buildup—the countdown—that’s the most exciting part. Rocket launches are kinda like that, too. Yeah, the actual blast-off is incredible, but there’s nothing like that 10-9-8-feeling. With that insight powering our strategy for this campaign, we created a whole concept around the incomparable experiences you can’t find anywhere else.

Adventure Galore

“Hang Ten” was the inspiration that started it all. We used storytelling to connect each number counting down from ten to a moment on the Space Coast. Not only did we tell the story of the overall destination, but we were able to showcase each town and municipality and town that make up the 72-miles of Florida coastline.

The sound design was the cherry on top—thanks to client feedback, we used real, authentic NASA launch countdown audio from the early shuttle launches to make our story that much more emotionally connective in people’s minds. Nothing says nostalgia and wonder like that signature crackly NASA audio footage. And nothing says Space Coast like a TV spot that opens with surfing and ends with a sonic boom.

We Have Liftoff

It can often be hard to contextualize numbers when it comes to space travel, but in the case of the Space Coast Office of Tourism’s Countdown campaign’s success, it’s quite easy. Since its launch, the integrated campaign has garnered over 85 million impressions, earned more than 700,000 clicks to the website resulting in greater than 150,000 valued conversion and 10,000 hotel bookings. Not to mention the staggering $7,100,000 economic impact. With results like that, we’d say it was a successful mission.
